Psalm 103; Genesis 28:10-17; Revelation 12:7-12; John 1:47-51
ST MICHAEL & ALL ANGELS
‘Saint Michael the Archangel, defender in battle; protect us against the wickedness and snares of the devil, whom we humbly pray God to rebuke, and may you, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, thrust Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls into hell. Amen.’ A traditional prayer invoking Michael’s protection over all whose service places them in harm’s way, from the early 1880s, slightly updated for modern English usage
Every Sunday, Grace Church remembers before God our men and women who serve in harm’s way–military, police, firefighters, all first responders. On this night, dedicated to the angelic host who protect us all from unseen assaults, let our prayers be offered in an especially focused way.
